Vintage KLH Music Systems

BEDFORD VINTAGE HI-FI offers reconditioned and fully functional KLH components. We typically put at least $225 into bringing these units back to life, so they are not inexpensive. The cosmetic condition varies but all these pieces allow you to immediately access the joy of listening on true mid-century classics.

Our inventory of reconditioned units can be viewed on the Equipment For Sale page of this web site. These pieces are on display and available for inspection (by appointment) at The Sound Parcel Music Showroom, 669 N. 13th St, Suite A-101, Easton, PA 18042. The Sound Parcel is some 60-70 miles from both New York City and Philadelphia.

As of August 2021, we boast an exceptional inventory of reconditioned KLH integrated systems and speakers. Multiple Model Twenty, Model Twenty-Four and Model Eleven W. Most are posted on this website but some new arrivals have not been photographed yet. The inventory includes some with the coveted "breadbox" style wood and plastic dust cover. We also have two Model Eleven portables and multiple pairs of all sizes of KLH speakers. If we don't have what you want, we can also take reservations for our next batch that should come back from the shop in November.

In addition to these working units we offer partially functional KLH Model Eleven, Model Twenty and Model Twenty Four integrated music systems (base units) for a nominal charge of $30 - $60 plus packing and shipping charges. Perfect for restoration, parts sourcing and similar DIY activities. We describe these as "Units for Recycling." These base units are typically sold to hobbyists for restoration or to DIY suppliers who will take our units and part them out for sale. These units are NOT suitable for immediate usage. Some parts may be missing. Some features won't work at all or perform very poorly.

Every so often we also dispose of what we would describe as an "As-Is Working" unit (as opposed to a "Unit for Recycling"). With a little additional work, these systems could likely perform well. We can describe these systems in some detail and, of course, they sell for a higher price than "Units for Recycling."

The units for recycling and cannibalizing are offered as a service to the community of Kloss lovers and also to recoup some of the costs of collecting KLH components from the late 1960s and early 1970s.

I am not a technician. I am an enthusiast, recording engineer and historian of audio technology. While I can tell you a good bit about Vintage KLH products and their usage, I cannot tell you how to repair them.

We do have a variety of component accessories for sale. This includes things like spindles, knobs, cables, headshells, dustcovers, JICO replacement styli, and various cosmetic items. We can also help with manuals and schematics. These are priced fairly.

We stock "as-is" KLH speakers ranging from fair to good condition. Many have been recapped and resealed. We also offer both generic and Gotham interconnect and speaker cables, terminated with high quality Amphenol RCA connectors, for use with KLH systems and other 1970s era components.
